SCB organized symposium in 4th MoChWo Conference
Nepal Chapter of Society for Conservation Biology (Nepal Chapter SCB) hosted a panel discussion on “Climate Change and Biodiversity: What Conservation Biologists Should Worry About in Nepal?” during 4th International Conference on “Mountain Changing World” on October 18, 2019 at Radisson, Hotel Kathmandu. The program was chaired by Dr. Tirtha B. Shrestha. Panelists (Dr. Krishna Prasad Acharya, Dr. Arun Prakash Bhatta, Mr. Haribhadra Acharya) gave talks on various aspects of biodiversity conservation in Nepal, challenges faced and lessons learned. Following the panel discussion, Nepal Chapter SCB had the first National Business Meeting.
An interaction program on “Becoming Field Biologists”
Nepal Chapter of Society for Conservation Biology (SCB Nepal) in partnership with Kathmandu Institute of Applied Sciences (KIAS) announce an interaction program “Becoming a wildlife field biologist:Challenges and opportunities”. A wildlife field biologist needs to complete multi-tasks to successfully complete a research project. The most challenging tasks, among the others, are managing logistics required for mountain terrain and collecting data in such terrain. This interaction program aims to highlight challenges the field biologists often face in Nepal. Interested participants are requested to register to reserve a seat !
First stakeholder meeting organized in Nepal
Nepal Chapter of Society for Conservation Biology (Nepal Chapter SCB) organized the first national meeting at Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation, Babarmahal, Nepal. The meeting was attended by a total of 25 people from academia, media, non-government organizations and government agencies. Dr. Prakash K. Paudel provided an overview of Nepal Chapter SCB and its objectives. Participants discussed about possible strategies to achieve its objectives.
